Following two years of hard work included public meetings, public exhibitions plus extensive consultations with the Community of Law, especially Primary Six and Seven School Children at Law Primary School. Law Community Trust are pleased to announce that they have been successful in obtaining funding from Forward Scotland £30,000. The Renewable Energy Foundation £30,000 and South Lanarkshire Council, £17,500 (in kind) for the total replacement of the Play Park Equipment in Law Play Park, Lawhill Road. £60,000 of the funding is for New Play Park Equipment; the rest is for the upgrading and enlargement of the existing car park plus the removal of existing equipment and the reinstatement of the Play Park Land.
South Lanarkshire Council Community Resources will be project managers, reporting to the Committee of Law Community Trust. Once complete, the Play Park will be Managed and maintained by South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Resources. Tendering for the equipment will Commence almost immediately and it may be possible the installation of the first pieces of New Play Park Equipment will begin by the end August or September 2009. Law Community Trust will continue to Seek additional funding for another two/three Play Equipment Units for the Play Park.

Good News for the Children of Law, £77,500 awarded to Law Community Trust for the upgrade of Law Play Park
A small group of people in Law decided to take the old saying at its word by setting up Law Community Trust in April 1999 The Aim behind the “Trust” is To bring the Community together, to work for more employment to increase social opportunities and to encourage visitors to Law. Membership is open to All residents, organisation’s and businesses based within Law.

Do you fancy giving a couple of hours of your time to learn a new skill? and enhance your village at the same time? If you are aged 16 or over and are able to work in the great outdoors for a few hours a week, we want to speak to you. This work will be carried out by Lanark based Clydesdale Community Initiatives. They will be starting in the village by the 22nd June 2009. The works they will be undertaking include planting beds and walling at the entry to Muir Street, enhancement of the Law Primary School frontage, wooden planters to the front of the Tom Craig Centre and bulb planting to the entries of the village. Clydesdale Community Initiatives, was set-up in 2002 to enable young people who are at risk and adults with mental health issue’s, to develop a derelict site in Lanark, South Lanarkshire. This project was so successful, with both groups benefiting hugely from their involvement, that it was decided to undertake further projects.
